SILVERTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IS ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN THE COMMUNITY OF SILVERTON .  FOLLOWING ARE SOME OF THE WAYS WE ARE ” ANSWERING GOD’S CALL, GROWING IN FAITH, AND SPREADING GOD’S LOVE”:

FRIENDS HELPING FRIENDS

THIS PROGRAM BEGAN IN 2011.

EACH WEEK HEALTHY SNACK SACKS ARE PACKED FOR THE LOCAL FOOD BANK (SILVERTON AREA COMMUNITY AID -SACA).

WE HAVE PACKED NEARLY 20,000 SACKS WHICH MEANS 20,000 SMILES ON CHILDREN  AND TEENS IN OUR COMMUNITY.

THE CONGREGATION DONATES MONTHLY TO SACA AS WELL.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES PROGRAM (ASAP)

ONE OF THE FOUR FOUNDING CHURCHES OF THIS AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS.

ASAP OPERATES TUESDAY-THURSDAY FROM 3:00-6:00.

STUDENTS RECEIVE ASSISTANCE WITH HOMEWORK, SNACKS, A HEALTHY MEAL, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO CHOOSE SEVERAL ACTIVITIES.

OVER 60 VOLUNTEERS SERVE AS MENTORS AND COOKS.

 

 

   MESSY CHURCH

MESSY CHURCH IS HELD ON SATURDAYS FROM 4-6PM FOUR TIMES A YEAR .

IT PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY FOR FAMILIES, NO MATTER THEIR RELIGIOUS IDENTITY, TO EXPERIENCE A CREATIVE AND FUN-FILLED CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY.

A MEAL IS SERVED AS WELL.

“A SPIRITUAL SISTERHOOD ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN MINISTRY” , THIS WOMEN’S GROUP MEET ONCE A MONTH ON THE THIRD TUESDAY AT NOON.  

THEY ARE A FRIEND TO ST. JOSEPH’S SHELTER IN MT. ANGEL.

TWICE A YEAR RUMMAGE SALES HELP THEM DONATE TO COMMUNITY AND CHURCH NEEDS.
