The Silverton United Methodist Book Club has been in existence for over 15 years. I am not sure exactly when it started. It has evolved over the years and we have had members come and go.
We usually meet the 2nd Saturday of the month at 10 AM at the church. All are welcome (this includes both men and women and you do not need to be a member of the SUMC to participate). We usually meet from September to June and take the summer months off.
We read all sorts of books, fiction and non-fiction. Some fun things we’ve done for our meetings is to meet at a restaurant and have a bite to eat and have our meeting, we’ve had a tea party book meeting, we have invited various authors to come talk to us about their book(s), one time we watched the movie version of a book and compared the book vs the movie, we’ve picked an author and members could read any book from that author and we would discuss what we read, we’ve also had our members just pick any book or any book from our church library or a biography and then we discuss these books.
Reading broadens your horizons, takes you on adventures, and brings out all kinds of emotions. Our book club is very open minded and we are open to new ideas and we discuss many things.
Come check us out.
